This is a metal cooler which measures approx. 16 inches long by 12 3/4 inches high and 9 inches deep. It appears to have been painted blue but the original green color is coming through in chipped areas. Top has a handle to carry it with. Latch, hinges and handle are all intact and work well. Front and back of cooler has embossed letters that say "Kampkold" and there is an indented U shaped design (Pictures 1 & 2). Inside the cooler is aluminum. There is quite a bit of rust - especially on the bottom of the cooler where it has rusted through in spots. Refer to pictures as they are part of the description. Comes from a smoke and pet free environment. Richard C. Laramy from Joliet, Illinois got a patent for this cooler in 1953. The chest he patented used Styrofoam for insulation which was invented in 1944. The cooler was called "Kampkold". The advertising line used was "Your home refrigerator away from home". This cooler is now 70 years old and has survived outdoor life and storage. Cool for display or for storing things in the man cave. Please ask any questions prior to purchase.
